International relations in modern times is a vast, independent interdisciplinary and critically investigative field of study. Subjects covered by International Relations are bewilderingly diverse, and ideas will remain tardy and inadequately expressed in an author, however extensive his studies or knowledge may be, undertakes to deal with a large number of political problems facing mankind within the compass of a single book. Dr. S. K. Chakrabarty (b.1935) M.A. (Calcutta), Ph.D. (Sambalpur) has already made a mark in the academic circles of India for his earlier books and a large number of research papers published in journals of India and Banglades. Dr. Chakrabarty started his teaching career in Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya, Tamluk, West Bengal in 1960 and has been associated with the Humanities Department of University College of Engineering, Burla, Orissa, since 1964. For a few years, as a part-time teacher he taught international Relations in the post-graducate Deptt. of Political Science, Sambalpur University.
