States Politics in India

Democratic Federal Republic of India is nearly half century old now. A half century is no less time for maturing and seasoning of any political system of governance. Are we a matured democracy? Instead of developing a Swadeshi system of polity and political culture, we adopted and carried on the British Colonial legacy in administrating our national affairs and government. The result – a severely ill political party system, criminalisation of politics, growing regionalism, secessionist and terrorist activities, communalism, casteism, poll rigging and booth capturing and what not. The present volume encyclopaedic in nature, is a vivid description of the state wise political developments in India since the inception. Dr. Sadhna Sharma (b. 1951) is a keen and active research in Indian Politics and Political History. Currently she is a Reader in Political science at Kamala Nehru College (University of Delhi). She is a life member of Indian Society of International Law and has been associated with legal literacy and Adult Education Programmes. She has to her credit the book, The Parliament and the Supreme Court, Institutional Conflict for Supremacy of Power. She has been writing for professional Journals as well.
