India is the second largest producer of fruits and vegetables in the world, after China. Fruits and vegetables account roughly 10 and 15 percent respectively in the world production. Over a period of time, the cropping patterns of fruits and vegetables have been changed extensively due to diversification of agriculture sector. At the same time, this sector generated adequate income for growers at low cost of cultivation and providing sufficient employment opportunities to rural and urban people. The horticulture is identified as one of the growth engine in the farm sector and plays a significant role in sustaining the progress of Indian and Telangana agriculture sector on one side and on the other, the availability of high quality and quantity of horticulture crops is a pre-condition for maintaining good health of people, hence, there is need for a study on “Horticulture Production and Marketing: An Empirical Evidence in Telangana”.

The book provides an elementary description about the trends in growth and structure of horticultural crops in India and Telangana State, socio- economic conditions of vegetable growers, cost & benefits analysis, marketing channels, marketed surplus and problems & prospects of vegetable growers in Telangana State, India. The book is an outcome of the author’s dedicated to academic pursuit. Moreover, the all chapters of book are explained well through different kinds of statistical models.

 

 

Dr. Kappa Kondal (b.1988) is a UGC-Post Doctoral Fellow in the Dept. of Economics, Osmania University, Hyderabad. He awarded PhD in Economics from Osmania University, Hyderabad and qualified UGC-NET and APSET in Economics. He passed out M.A (Eco), B. Ed and UG (B.A) with first class with distinction from Osmania University and Nizam College respectively. His papers published extensively in National and International journal such as Agricultural Situation in India Journal, Anvesak Journal, International Journal of Research in Economics and Social Sciences and International Journal of Academic Research. He has more than 30 citations, h-index is 3 and i10-index is 1. He worked as a Rapporteur in the 31st Annual Conference of Indian Society of Agriculture Marketing. He has presented more than 15 research papers in National and International conferences such as Indian Economics Association (IEA), Indian Society of Agriculture Economics (ISAE), Indian Society of Agriculture Marketing (ISAM), Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Telangana Economics Association (TEA) and in other various universities.

Presently, He is working as a faculty member in Dept. of Economics, University Post Graduate College, Sec-bad, Osmania University and visiting faculty member in Govt. Degree College for Women, Begumpet and Govt. Degree College, Khairatabad in Hyderabad.
