As never before, there is an all-round concern about the falling of educational standards in our country. This is a complex phenomenon precipitated by several factors one among which is certainly the teachers and their “involvement” in the educational process. Ths deals with an investigation made into the Teachers’ Work Adjustment and Job Satisfaction, the importance of which in the educational process cannot be over emphasized. There have not been any empirical studies in this very important area in our country. This book aims to fill some of the gaps in our knowledge and appreciation of our teachers. 

 

Dr. S. Narayana Rao is Professor and Chairman, Department of Psychology, S.V. University, Tirupati. A Ph.D. in Educational and Counselling Psychology, he has been teaching Post-graduate classes for even three decades. He has visited U.S.A., as a Fulbright Scholar where he worked at the Student Counselling Centre, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He was also Hay’s Scholar in U.S.A. His published work include “Student Performance and Adjustment” (1967) “Employment Pattern of S.V. University Graduates” (1970), “Cognitive Development in Children” Vol.I (1977), Vol. II (1978) and Vol. III (1980), S.V. University, Tirupati and “Counselling Psychology”. He has been actively associated with several professional organisations and has served them in different capacities. He is the recipient of Distinguished Teacher Award (1981) from the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh.
