The present study aims at to study not only the motive but also other basic abilities like judgement, memory, perception as well as power- together termed as general adaptive capacity of two comparable tribal and non-tribal communities (the Kondh, the Koya, and the Oriya) as they live together in primitive village and urban conditions as well in this part of the country. Education, as an instrument for the creation of new human values lays emphasis for a shift from learning to teaching, from doing to the one who cause it to be done, from spontaneity to coercion, from freedom to power. Hence education can be regarded as one of the most effective and forward looking instrument of tribal social transformation. But owing to inconsistencies due to social conflict between traditionalism and modernity, humanities and science subjects, the student may not have any clear cur congnitive structure that can give direction and strength to their attitudes. So the findings of the present study will be of immense help to social planners and administrators, for the utilisation of the educational facilities so as to keep pace with their traditional values and help eradicate a lopsided, ill-balanced development on the tribal educational front.
