The present book intends to spotlight the Buddhist imprint in the early Tamil literature and archaeological sources. The endeavour has been achieved to include more Buddhist sites in the early historic Tamilakam in its discussions. The book has four chapters that covers the aspect of the historiography of Buddhism, Buddhism in early Tamil literature, early Buddhist centres, and patronage of Buddhism in Tamil Nadu.Thus, the work consciously attempted to study the early Buddhist culture as reflected in early Sangam and post-Sangam literature and other historical sources. Subsequently, this book has emerged as the product of research work carried out on various occasions with a holistic approach to studying Buddhism in the early historic and medieval periods. We present here the book for the pleasure of academic engagements and passion for the past, to live the present for a meaningful future.
