Suicide - A Multidisciplinary Approach

This book presents an illustration of Suicide – its nature and causes with an amalgamation of extensively researched studies and literary analyses on the psychological attributes of suicide. An overview of suicide as a national shame reiterating the fact that suicide is socially induced is one key aspect of this book. The prominent role played by religion and religious institutions on suicide along with an analysis from a Christian perspective is also highlighted. This book also incorporates clinical tools used in the assessment of psychological problems related to suicide. Finally, the importance of suicide prevention and intervention programs in the form of Life skills education and improving psychosocial interactions, teaching stress management and emotional regulation techniques and enhancing spirituality is also presented. 

Saichampuii Sailo, obtained her Bachelor and Master Degree in Psychology from the University of Delhi, Delhi; completed her Ph. D from Mizoram University, Mizoram. She is presently working as Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, Pachhunga University College (A constituent college of Mizoram University), Aizawl, Mizoram. She has also co-edited a book called “Becoming Something Else Society and Change in India’s North East”, Published by Cambridge Scholar Publishing, New Castle, U.K.

Rinpari Ralte, obtained her Bachelor Degree from University of Delhi, Delhi; completed her Masters and Ph.D from Mizoram University, Mizoram. She is presently working as Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Psychology, Pachhunga University College (A constituent college of Mizoram University), Aizawl, Mizoram.
