This volume is intended to highlight the nature and manifestations of communalism as it manifests itself in our country and also to clearly indicate the pattern and magnitude of the riots that have occurred after Independence. A sincere attempt has been made to include in this Volume articles on the problem of communalism that reflect the views and thinkings of a wide spectrum of prominent intellectuals, thinkers and political leaders such as S. Nijalingappa, Babubhai J. Patel, EMS Namboodiripad, A.J. Jalali, Bipan Chandra, Indrajeet Gupta, Malti Malik, S.G. Mohiuddin, S.K. Chaturvedi, and R.N. Misra etc. All the articles, included in this Volume, are highly relevant to the situation of the resurgence of communalism in the post-Independence period. Litt., former All India Research Representative of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial, Ahmedabad, is currently Senior Research Officer of Sardar Patel National Society, New Delhi. Besides Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Ke Samajik Aur Rajnitik Vichar (in Hindi), Dr. Ravindra Kumar has more than a dozen outstanding publications to his credit.
