Perspectives on Human Rights in Mizoram by Dr C. Lalhmanmawia

This book provides an analysis of the origin of the concept and its process of universalization. It deals with provisions human rights in Indian Constitution and its implementation as well as its loopholes. The book contains an insight on Mizo Insurgency which brought rampant human rights violations upon the innocent civilians at the hand of Indian Forces as well as Mizo insurgents. It also deals with judicial administration in Mizoram and make certain suggestions for making Mizo human rights friendly society a. Last part of the book offers recommendations and suggestions based on research for establishing human rights culture in India in general and for Mizoram in particular. It is hope that this book will serve instrumental in bringing about information on human rights in its various manifestations and implementation, provide invaluable guide for in-depth knowledge about Mizo society and issues being confronted by Mizoram in terms of human rights violations, promotion and protection.

Dr C. Lalhmanmawia is an Associate Professor in Political Science Department in Aizawl North College. Before he joined his present post he served as Lecturer in Govt Kolasib College for 14 years. He obtained Master Degree in Political Science from NEHU, Shillong. He got NET in 2000, PG Diploma in Human Rights from Indian Institute of Human Rights, New Delhi in 2005 and a Doctorate Degree from Mizoram University in the field of Human Rights. He wrote two volumes on Political Theory and Major Political Systems for undergraduate studies. He contributed lots of Chapters and Articles in ISBN publications and in local magazines and newspapers on human rights issues. He is presently the President of Mizoram Political Science Associations. He is also deeply involved in various human rights activities and associations.
