Peasant Movements, Consumer Culture and Conservation of Natural Resources

One of the objectives of Prof. Deb Kumar Banerjee Memo- rial Foundation is advancement of learning. To achieve this objective, we have organized the Prof. Deb Kumar Banerjee Memorial Lectures annually since 2019 at sessions of the All-India Sociological Confer-ence. The venue selected for these lectures is RC 15 of the Indian Sociological Society. Initially we requested eminent former students of Prof. Deb Kumar Banerjee to deliver the lectures. The first lecture was delivered by Prof. Gayatri Bh- attacharya, a student of the first batch, at 45th All India So- ciological Conference at Thi- roovananthapooram Kerala in 2019. Another eminent former student, Prof. Sudeshna Basu Mukherjee, delivered the sec- ond lecture online at the 46th All India Sociological Confer- ence, Mumbai. Prof. Indira Ra- marao, past President, Indian Sociological Society, delivered the third lecture at the 47th All India Sociological Conference held at Ri Bhoi, Meghalaya, in 2022.

Prof. Anirban Banerjee is at present Professor of Sociology at The University of Burdwan and the Chairman and Managing Trustee of Prof. Deb Kumar Banerjee Memorial Foundation.
