The Mountain Mosaic is intended to portray the contemporaneity of certain issues prevailing in Sikkim-Darjeeling Himalaya. PROF. MAITREYEE CHOUDHURY (b. 1959) has research and teaching experience on Himalayan Geography for four decades. She did B.A. (Hons.), M.A. and Ph.D in Geography at the University of Calcutta. Prof. Choudhury has been a Visiting Professor at the Department of Geography and Management, Lille University, France (September 2010-November 2010), and ICSSR Visiting Fellow in China (October 2008) and France (September 2006). Besides, she has visited many Foreign Universities including Harvard University and Oxford University in connection with various academic programmes. She has been Chairperson and Member of various Learned Bodies and Committees of the University Grants Commission, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India, Sikkim University, University of North Bengal, Geographical Society of India, etc. She has four books and numerous research articles to her credit. At present she teaches at the Centre for Himalayan Studies, University of North Bengal.
