Modern India and North East offers a concise yet insightful study of the making of modern India and the historical evolution of the North Eastern region under colonial rule. J. Zorema (b.1960) is a Professor of History and the Principal of the Government J. Buana College, Lunglei, Mizoram. He obtained his MA (History) and PhD degrees from North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and specialized in History of Modern North East India. He is the author and editor of several books. He has contributed a number of research papers and contributes articles in various periodicals and journals and presented papers in seminars. He is actively involved in social works and holds leaderships in various NGO’s. He is a Life Member of the North East India History Association, the Mizo History Association, the India Red Cross Society and the Leprosy Mission of India. He holds membership in various Councils and Committees in Mizoram University. He is currently an Assessor of National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) and a Member of Mizoram Youth Commission.
