Minorities and International law

The present work is to increase our awareness of minority issues at national and international level. It is hoped that it will promote research on minorities, enabling advocacy of minority rights to become more informed and acceptable. Although progress has been made during the last fifty years in developing the international regime of minority. The Study is an Attempt to shed light on the controversies surrounding the meaning of the term minority, Kinds of minorities, their rights and protection thereof, both at the national and international level. The author has not hesitated to criticize the view which he feels have distorted the reality of minority situations.

The publication comprises wight chapters. First chapter deals with theme of the problem. This background is followed in chapter second which deals with the concept of minority in context of international law. The third chapter classfies minorities and the chapter four enumerates  the rights of minorities in international perspective. The International protection of minorities has been dealt with in chapter five, in the light of various treaties, Agreements, League of Nations, United Nations' Documents, Declarations and Conventions. Chapter six is devoted to position of minorities under different municipal laws. Chapter seven is the critical examination of the question, whether the protection of minorities is a neglected field? The last chapter is an analytical study of all the issues raised in the foregoing chapters.
