Horticulture has emerged as one of the most important sectors of the state’s economy, providing livelihood opportunities, income generation, and nutritional security to a large section of the rural population. Despite its immense potential, the sector continues to face numerous marketing challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, weak market linkages, high transportation costs, and the dominance of unorganized supply chains. Drawing upon extensive field surveys and empirical analysis, the book examines the production and marketing patterns of cabbage and mandarin orange under different supply chains. It evaluates marketing costs, marketing margins, price spread, producers’ share in the consumer’s rupee, and the overall level of marketing efficiency. The study also identifies the major constraints faced by farmers, traders, and other stakeholders involved in the marketing process. By combining theoretical insights with field- based evidence, the book highlights the strengths and weaknesses of the existing horticultural marketing system in Mizoram and offers practical recommendations for improving marketing efficiency. The findings are expected to be useful for researchers, policymakers, development practitioners, students, and stakeholders interested in agricultural and horticultural marketing, rural development, and value chain management. As one of the few empirical studies focusing on horticultural marketing in Mizoram, the book also contributes to the growing body of literature on agricultural marketing in North-East India and provides useful policy directions for promoting an efficient, inclusive, and farmer-oriented marketing system in the region.

K.
