The present book entitled “Emerging Youth Crime in India” is  based on selected papers presented in RC-23 ‘Sociology of Law, Crime & Deviance’ under Indian Sociological Society. Prof. Ramesh H. Makwana (b.1974) is a Professor and Head in the Department of Sociology at Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat.He has 24 years of experience in teaching, research & extension in India. He is Director of UGC centre for Indian diaspora, SPU. He served as Honorary Director of Dr. Ambedkar Chair from 2010 to 2013, SPU. He has been the Convener of RC-18 ‘Sociology of Crime and Deviance’ from 2010 to 2014 and RC-23 ‘Sociology of Law, Crime and Deviance’ under Indian Sociological Society from 2014 to 2018 and He has served as Secretary of Gujarat Sociological Society from 2012 to 2014.Currently, He is working as a member of Managing Committee, Indian Sociological Society (2021-2026).

Prof. Makwana received Dr. Ambedakar Award along with cash prize of Rupees one Lakh from Govt. of Gujarat on 24-04-2012 at Ahmedabad, Gujarat for his milestone social work on empowerment of rural women leader in Gram panchayat.

His areas of specialization are Criminology, Political Sociology, Rural Development,Indian Diaspora & Gender Studies. He has completed 3 minor and 3 major research projects funded by the UGC, New Delhi. His credit of 24 books and more than 55 research papers have been published in various reputed (CARE) journals of national and international level. He has successfully guided 48 Ph.D. and 54 M. Phil Scholars. He has presented 32 research papers in International seminars, 125 National Seminars and 95 State level Seminars & Conferences. He has organized several national and international seminars and conferences. He has delivered more than 85 Key-note addresses at National & State level Conferences. He is actively contributing to several academic and professional bodies as a life-time member and also associated with many NGOs at state and national level.
