Education and Health Among Tribal Women by Chaitali Datta

This book reflects a case study of a situation of the social aspects of education and health, and the relationship between education and health among the women of a small tribe, namely Rabha of West Bengal. Besides, it also reflects the situation of changes in the social aspects of education and health status of Rabha women as well as the extent of the relationship between educational and health status in the line of the importance of education as a factor of social determinant of health in raising health status among the women in Rabha tribal society. This book is the product of a comprehensive and in-depth study based on a structural and functional approach and offers an empirical analysis of the social institutions of education and health among the Rabha women in West Bengal. Moreover, it may add to the knowledge/ information on women’s situation particularly in the arena of gender studies in Social Sciences, because of the unavailability of comprehensive and in-depth studies on aforesaid aspects among the women of Rabha tribe in West Bengal. No such in-depth and empirical study on these aspects has so far been taken earlier among the women of the Rabha tribe in the northern region of West Bengal state. Therefore, programme planners, policymakers, social scientists, and researchers may also find the book of special interest. Certainly, it may be helpful to have a grasp of the situation of the women Rabha tribe entirely from different angles.
