The Book
Development Strategies for North-East India: Perspectives, Policies and Experiences, a collection 26 research papers contributed by researchers, academicians, and grass-root activists. The book systematically presents the strategic issues of rural development of the North-East Region of India in five sections:
Section 1 — includes discussions relating to the managerial perspectives of sustainable rural development in NER.
Section 2 — focuses on current policy changes and performance evaluation of rural development schemes in the region.
Section 3 — elaborates the holistic picture of financing scenario in rural development in the region.
Section 4 — deals with the managerial orientations towards creating marketing linkages, institutional building, supply and value chain development of agriculture in the region.
Section 5 — deals with practical experiences in rural development of the region including fundamental issues of livelihood asset creation; health, sanitation, education, and related determinants of rural livelihood status along with livelihood management practices.
Using an integrated and multi-perspective approach, the book would be equally useful for the researchers, policy makers, and readers interested in the field of rural development.
The Editors
Debabrata Das, (b. 1970) M. Com, Ph.D is currently a Professor and Head, Department of Business Administration at Tezpur University. A Central University situated in Assam. He has over 20 years of Post Graduate and Doctoral level teaching and research experience in various Universities in the Commerce and Management disciplines.
Prof. Das has directed eight research projects funded by UGC, ICSSR, Government of India Ministries, and IGNOU. He is also leading UGC-Special Assistance Programme (DRSI) as Coordinator. He has authored and co-authored three books and has over 40 national and international publications in his credit.
The areas of interest of Prof. Das include Financial Inclusion, Financial Management, Financial Markets, Rural and Micro-finance, Co-operatives and Livelihood development.
Anjan Bhuyan, (b. 1971) M.A., Ph.D is currently an Associate Professor, Department of Business Administration, Tezpur University, Assam.
Dr. Bhuyan specialises in Economics and his research interests include Applied Economics, Rural Economics, Entrepreneurship Development, and Tourism. He has also carried out research projects on tourism and entrepreneurship development funded by UGC and ICSSR. He is also associated with a UGC-Special Assistance Programme (DRSI) as Co-Coordinator.
Dr. Bhuyan authored a book titled Tourism Entrepreneurship in Assam and edited a volume titled Tourism and Handicraft : A Sustainable Approach. He has also published many research papers in national and international journals and edited volumes on multi-disciplinary areas.
