Morphology includes both Exo as well as Endo Morphological characters. For Exo-Morphological characters we lay main stress on taxonoical characters. For Eudo-Morphological characters we are bound to study its anatonomical, Histological, Embrylogical and cytilogical characters. In this volume, author has given detailed account of the Anatomical and histological studies because in potentilla and Sibbaldia hardly any anatomical investigation has been undertaken in the past except Metcalf and Chalk (1950) and by Khan (1977). Emphasis has been laid on development structure of venation, trichomes and stomata. This study appears to have a bearing on taxonomy of the genus.
Dr. Asrafa Jeelani (b. 1943) received her M.SC (Botany) Degree in 1969 and was awarded Ph.D Degree in 1978 by the University of Kashmir. She has a very distinguished career. Dr. Jeelani has a very long teaching experience to her credit. She has been teaching Botany for last a quarter century. She has ;published several books Besides she has contributed a series of papers and articles in various Journal and News paper of repute. She is an N.c.e.r.t. experts and has been delivering talks on Science subjects on T.V. and Radio. Dr. Jeelani is an active member of various academic bodies in the country. She has been the President of J&K College Teachers Association (Kashmir Wing). She has attended and organised many seminars and conferences. Besides, she is deeply interested in sports and is also involved in adult education, N.S., M.L.F.P., Population Education, Club, N.C.C. Dr. Jeelani has been honoured by ‘Reference Asia’, ‘Indo-Arab Who’s WHO and ‘Twentieth Century Distinguished Who’s Who’, and has obtained several honours/awards.
